Extra Distribution Information
Africa and southern Asia, east to Moluccas and eastern Lesser Sundas. Of introduced Australian members, Streptopelia chinensis chinensis (Scopoli, 1786) is indigenous to eastern China from Hopeh, Shansi and Shensi southward, including Formosa; S. c. tigrina (Temminck, 1809) occurs naturally from east Bengal through south-east Asia to the Greater and Lesser Sundas east to Timor and Babar; and S. senegalensis senegalensis (Linnaeus, 1766) is indigenous to Africa from Senegal south to the Gold Coast and east to Sudan and Eritrea.
