Introduction
Family Piophilidae is a small family of flies with some 67 species described worldwide. Piophilidae are currently represented in Australia by seven species in two genera. Species are known to be associated with animal products and fungi. Piophila casei Linnaeus, the 'cheese skipper', can be a serious pest of cheese and meat products.
