• Sigmaxinella soelae Hooper, J.N.A. 1984. Sigmaxinella soelae and Desmacella ithystela, two new desmacellid sponges (Porifera, Axinellida, Desmacellidae) from the Northwest Shelf of Western Australia, with a revision of the family Desmacellidae. Monogr. Ser. N.T. Mus. Arts Sci. 2 xii 58 pp. [2].

   Holotype NTM Z1286 wet, 83 m, west of Port Hedland, WA (19º43´S 118º50´30˜E).
  Paratype(s) NTM Z1121 2 specimens, wet; AM number lost wet.
