Introduction
This is a small subfamily of braconids that superficially resemble the Cardiochilinae but have the second and third metasomal tergites developed into a carapace.
They are worldwide in distribution but rarely collected. The group has been recently revised for Australia (van Achterberg & Austin 1992), with the five recognised species being placed in two endemic genera. Members of the Sigalphinae are endoparasitoids of lepidopteran larvae.
