Amphidesma variegata Lamarck, 1818 by subsequent designation. - Donacilla Blainville, 1819 [Dictionnaire des sciences naturelles, 13: 428; first established as the vernacular "Donacille" by Lamarck, 1812, Extrait du cours de zoologie: 107. First latinized by Blainville, who, however, placed Donacilla in synonymy of Amphidesma, but available under Art. 11.6.1 because it was used as valid by, e.g., Philippi, 1836, Enumeratio molluscorum Siciliae, 1: 37].
