Diagnosis
Encrusting sheets with surface covered in sharp conules. Soft consistency. Ectosomal skeleton absent. Choanosome characteristically grainy in appearance. Choanosomal skeleton consisting of bundles of thin styles entirely enclosed in spongin. Fibres dendritic rising up from a basal spongin plate. Low spicular density and soft consistency. Half a dozen species distributed over all warmer parts of the world oceans.
