[265] (Note #488: Samia cynthia (Drury, 1773) was recorded as established in Sydney by Froggatt (1907). The Australian Museum, Sydney, contains specimens reputedly reared from naturalized stock. Lepidopterists in Sydney are not aware of its presence now and it may have died out. Baker (1985) records its establishment in Auckland, New Zealand recently. This is a widespread Asian species and the source of the specimens which became established in Sydney is not known)
