Introduction

Saccostrea in Australia is in dire need of a full morphological as well as molecular assessment. The lastest casual assessments of the Australian taxa (Huber 2010; Torigoe 2004) state that S. cucullata does not exist in the Indo-Pacific. Literature records of S. cucullata could refer to any one of the Saccostrea species listed herein.
