Family STREPTAXIDAE Gray, 1860
Introduction
A family of carnivorous snails widely distributed throughout the tropical and sub-tropical regions. Though the centre of their distribution appears to be the Indo-west Pacific region, several species have become successful world travellers being dispersed both by natural means and by human agency.
The family is characterized by the small sized, cylindrical shell with a strongly reflected lip and apertural barriers.
