Family STENOPSOCIDAE
Compiler and date details
C.N. Smithers Australian Museum, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Introduction
Worldwide, the Stenopsocidae comprise three genera and nearly 60 species, but only one species has been found in Australia, in the north east.
Stenopsocids are very similar to the Caeciliidae but can be distinguished from them by the crossvein between the pterostigma and radius and between areola postica and media. The pulvillus is broad. The eggs are laid in groups and are covered by silken threads only.
