Family SELLNICKIIDAE Balogh & Balogh, 1984
Introduction
The family Sellnickiidae includes a single genus and either one or two species that occur in New Zealand, Australia, and Indonesia (Subias 2011). The family has sometimes been considered as a synonym of Oribatulidae, but is here treated as a valid family following Norton & Behan-Pelletier (2009) and Schatz et al. (2011). The Australian fauna includes a single identified species that has been recorded from flowers and leaves in New South Wales and Queensland. Colloff & Halliday (1998) suggested that this is an arboreal species, and reviewed its nomenclatural history. There are also several records of unidentified specimens of Sellnickia from Australia.
