Species Rhinoptericola butlerae (Beveridge & Campbell, 1988)

Introduction

Beveridge & Campbell (1988) described S. butlerae, but also made it a junior synonym of Tetrarhynchus aetobatidis Shipley & Hornell, 1906, which was moved into the genus Shirleyrhynchus (Beveridge & Campbell, 1998). More recent research has determined that S. aetobatidis and S. butlerae are separate species, and S. butlerae was resurrected (Schaeffner 2016). Shirleyrhynchus aetobatidis does not occur in Australian waters and is therefore removed from the AFD.
