Tubiculous, branching colonies, adhering to corals, calcareous algae, shells, stones, coarse sand, gravel, biogenic sediments, in association with Bryozoa, hydroids, tunicates, sponges, serpulids and foraminifera, at depths ranging from lower intertidal down to 800 m at 38º16.40´S 149º27.40´E, off Point Hicks, VIC (collector M.F. Gorman, NMV, during an R.V. Franklin survey of slope fauna).
