Vol. 4 identified specimen No. 683 as a type of M. fuscipes; it records that the specimen was presented by Charles Darwin in Jan. 1837 and it equates number 683 with what is apparently a Darwin collection number, D.3564; specimen No. 683 is No. 520 of Waterhouse, G.R. 1838. Catalogue of the Mammalia Preserved in the Museum of the Zoological Society of London.
