Diagnosis
Spongillidae with encrusting growth form with occasional delicate cylindrical branches. Choanosomal skeleton paucispicular anisotropic with ill-defined secondary tracts. Megascleres are spined oxeas. Gemmules occur in the basal part of the sponge or are scattered. Gemmular theca tri-layered with gemmuloscleres radially embedded. Gemmuloscleres acanthostrongyles with tips bearing apical spines (oxeas ?).
