Introduction
The small family Radiasteridae is recorded from the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, and the Tasman region. Two genera are known, one of which is recorded from a single species in Australian waters.
This family is distinguished from others within the order Velatida by the following combination of character states: marginals small and subpaxilliform; membranous interbrachial septa and superambulacral plates present; aboral plates consisting of penicillate paxillae; actinal plates tabulate and imbricated in transverse series; tube feet with terminal sucker.
