Introduction
Pupoides contrarius is a relatively geographically restricted species distinguished from sympatric P. lepidulus and P. beltianus by its sinistral coiling.

Diagnosis
Shell very small, light brown, elongate-conical, sinistral; shell surface smooth with very weak growth lines; aperture ovate with a small tooth at parieto-palatal angle; lip strongly reflected; umbilicus a narrow chink; height to 4 mm.
