Type species:
Pumilicopta kessneri Solem, 1988 by original designation.
Introduction
Pumilicopta was introduced by Solem (1989) for two species of pupillid with very complex apertural barriers. Pokryszko (1996) reduced the taxon to subgeneric rank within Gastrocopta and introduced an additional species from northern Australia. Stanisic et al. (2010) reinstated the taxon to generic rank.

Diagnosis
Shell minute, conical, dextral, smooth with strongly rounded whorls and impressed sutures; aperture subquadrate and densely packed with a complex arrangement of large and small parietal and palatal barriers; lip strongly reflected; umbilicus reduced to a chink. Colour greyish white.
