Coastal NE Australia north to Cape York Peninsula west as far as lower Edward River, QLD, south to about Port Stephens, NSW, and inland locally to ranges on coastal watershed of Great Dividing Range, reaching Atherton tableland, Clarke Range and Bunya Mountains, QLD, and upper Clarence River, Bellinger River, and Comboyne plateau, NSW—also off-shore islands from Green Is. south to North Stradbroke, QLD, and all heavily-wooded Torres Strait islands, straggling erratically to south coastal NSW, E VIC, E TAS, adjacent areas of New Guinea and once Norfolk Is.

Extra Ecological Information

Seasonal breeder, sexually dimorphic, arboreal fruit-eater in mid and upper strata of tropical and lower altitude subtropical rainforest, and in north, mangroves, rests, roosts and nests in trees, wanders locally and regionally to seasonal food sources, with some south to north migration in autumn-winter in south.
