Diagnosis

Carapace oval, regions poorly defined; frontal margin deflexed medially; third antennal segment lodged between inner supra-orbital tooth and lateral part of frontal margin. Posterior margin of epistome with medial cleft; endostomial ridges always discernible, but may be weak anteriorly. Thoracic sternites 1 and 2 fused, no suture visible; suture between sternites 2 and 3 deep, suture between sternites 3 and 4 interrupted medially. Male abdomen with all seven segments freely movable. Male first gonopod (G1) long, slender, tip may be flared or spatulate to varying degrees; G2 short, approximately 1/4 to 1/3 length of G1, basal segment well developed but flagellum short to very short.
