Introduction

Included in the Pseudioninae are all the branchial parasites of anomurans, about half the branchial parasites of thalassinidean shrimps, as well as a few species infesting deep-water caridean shrimps. The subfamily was redefined by Markham (1985).

Male: Head separated from pereon or lateral indentation indicating separation; all pereomeres distinct, often with midventral tubercles; pleon of 1 to 6 pleomeres, some often with midventral tubercles; if multisegmented, pleon usually bearing tuberculiform to flaplike uniramous pleopods on all, but final pleomere; uropods present in some genera.
