Extra Distribution Information

Lower Cooper Creek drainage, south to Strzelecki Creek, west to Etadunna and Coongie Lakes, and N and east to Windorah and Cheviot Range, possibly to Lake Bullawarra and Comongin on middle Bulloo River where may intergrade with P. h. haematonotus (Gould, 1838) (q.v.).

Ecological Descriptors

Arboreal, diurnal, folivore, granivore, gregarious, low open woodland, low woodland, nomadic, resident, terrestrial, volant, woodland.

Extra Ecological Information

Seasonal breeder, sexually dimorphic, in coolabah (Eucalyptus microtheca)-lined watercourses, feeds mainly on seeds on ground and low shrubs, flies in shallow undulations bringing wings in to side of body, nests on bed of wood dust/debris in tree hollows, wanders locally to seasonal food sources.
