Genus Protoribates Berlese, 1908

Introduction

The genus Protoribates is known from Australia only on the basis of unidentified species, as reported by Moulton (1982), Lee (1986), Osler (1997), Hunt et al. (1998), Colloff & Halliday (1998) and Shaw (1999). Unidentified species of Protoribates were also reported by Lee (1986) and Walter (1995, 1999) under the name Xylobates (see Colloff & Halliday, 1998). An unidentified species of Xylobates was also reported from Australia by Osler & Beattie (2001).
