Introduction

Recent genetic analyses have led Bahia et al. (2017) and Dittman et al. (2019) to propose the superfamily Prosthiostomoidea to accommodate the Prosthiostomidae. However, Litvaitis et al. (2019) argues that as all prosthiostomids are placed within a single family, such a taxonomic addition (a new superfamily) is not warranted until at least another prosthiostomid family is recognised.
