Family PROMEGISTIDAE Kethley, 1977
Introduction
The family Promegistidae includes a single species that was described from specimens collected on beetles in New South Wales (Womersley 1958) and subsequently recorded from the forest floor in Queensland (Beaulieu et al. 2010). Some authors have reported that its host beetles are Passalidae and Carabidae (Kim 2004; Lindquist et al. 2009). Womersley (1958) originally placed this species in the family Paramegistidae, but Kethley (1977) described the new family Promegistidae to accommodate this one species. The phylogenetic analysis by Kim (2004) confirmed its status as a separate family.
