Coast, subcoast and major rivers of Cape York Peninsula south to Staaten River in west and region of Endeavour-Annan Rivers in east—also main south-west islands in Torres Strait (Friday, Prince of Wales, Thursday Ils). Probably intergrades abruptly at south-eastern limits about Annan-Endeavour Rivers with P. p. baileyi Mathews, 1912 (q.v.).

Ecological Descriptors
Arboreal, arthropod-feeder, carnivorous, closed forest, nocturnal, open forest, sedentary, tall forest, territorial, volant.
Extra Ecological Information
Randomly dispersed, seasonal breeder, general carnivore, in pairs or family groups on edges of rainforest and in vine and paperbark (Melaleuca) forests along streams, roosts by day on sheltered horizontal branches or in tree crotches, forages by night more in open eucalypt forest and woodland by flap-and-glide sallying from perches, builds brief platform nests of sticks, both sexes share nidificational duties.
