- Plestia Stål, C. 1870. Hemiptera insularum Philippinarum. Bidrag till Philippinska oarnes Hemipter-fauna. Öfversigt af Kongliga Svenska Vetenskaps-Akademiens Förhandlingar. Stockholm 27: 607-776 [768] [first introduced as a subgenus of Armacia Stål, 1862].
Type species:
Ricania marginata Montrouzier, 1861 by original designation.
Introduction
This genus comprises 27 described species from Fiji, Samoa, New Caledonia and Vanuatu with Melichar (1898) recording P. marginata from Australia (see Fletcher 2008: 115–116 for a discussion). A single female specimen of this genus from Iron Range, far North Queensland, is present in the ASCU collection but it does not match Melichar’s specimens of P. marginata, although Fletcher (2008) incorrectly used this name in the caption for the figure where this specimen was shown. This indicates that at least one additional species is present in Australia.

Diagnosis
Cujus typus est A. marginate Montr., divergit capite latiore, areola basali tegminum venas quattuor emittente, venis radialibus maxime appropinquatis, subcontiguis, vena radiali interiore basin versus ramum unum, dein versus medium tegminis ramos duos emittente, vena radiali exteriore ad stigma furcata et areolam minutam ramos duos emittentem formante, venis transversis tribus ante medium et sex pone medium positis, his seriem irregularem formantibus (Stål 1870).
