First published after 1930 in a key to genera, without the designation of a type species, this name was not nomenclaturally available (Code [1986] Article 13(b)) until the name Phloeocetis was subsequently established for the genus when it was formally described by Turner (1936b), with Phloeocetis virgea Turner as the type species by monotypy)
