Extra Distribution Information

SW Australia, north to near Dongara, inland to Wongan Hills and Lake Grace and south-east to W Great Australian Bight east at least to Eyre—also Houtman Abrolhos and Recherche Archipelago, but extinct on Rottnest Is.

Extra Ecological Information

Randomly dispersed, seasonal breeder, sexually dimorphic, feeds on ground on seeds in heaths and dense shrubberies, with or without overtopping sclerophyll forest, flies with even wing-beats, nests on or near ground in or under low bushes and trees, sedentary or wanders locally to seasonal food sources.
