Pezoporus Illiger, J.C.W. 1811. Prodromus Systematis Mammalium et Avium, additis terminis zoographicis utriusque classis, eorumque versione Germanica. Berolini : Sumptibus C. Salfeld xvii 301 pp. [201] [validated as correct name with above authorship, place of publication and below-cited type species by International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature Opinion 67, with gender masculine; not affected by Pezoporus Klug, 1842 or Pezoporus Foerster, 1868, both junior homonyms of Pezoporus Illiger, 1811, see Direction 44 of International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature; also as incorrect subsequent spelling, Pezophorus by Vigors, N.A. 1825. Type species:
Psittacus formosus Latham, 1790 by monotypy (=Pezoporus wallicus (Kerr, 1792)).
