Diagnosis
Massive sponges with irregular monocrepid desmas (some without a visible crepis) which are branched in all planes; smooth except at tips; and poorly articulated or non-articulated at all; other megascleres are large, usually bent, oxeas, strongyloxeas and anisorhabds. No microscleres.
