Genus Pernina El Kadiri, Joyon & Pussard, 1992
Diagnosis
Small amoebae moving by eruptive protrusions from a hemispherical anterior lobopodium. Halophilic, with differentiation to flagellate stage at reduced osmolarity; swimming cells spherical and biflagellate with anterolateral cytostome. Cysts spherical with a wide, regular gap between ecto- and endocyst walls; endocyst pierced by several excystment pores closed by a mucoid plug and an interior basal plate.
