  Type species:

   Mya perna Linnaeus, 1758 (Mya perna is cited in the synonymy of Perna magellanica Philipsson, 1788 (one of the originally included species). Herrmannsen (1847, Indicis generum malacozoorum primordia 2: 235) and Soot-Ryen (1955, Allan Hancock Pacific Expeditions 20(1): 29) independantly designated Mya perna and Perna magellanica, respectively, as type species) by absolute tautonymy.
