Genus Peltohyas Sharpe, 1896

Introduction

Placement of Eurodromias australis Gould 1841 within Charadriidae is uncertain. The species is frequently placed in Chiradrius however more recent studies have suggested a level of difference that warrants placement of the species in its own genus, Peltohyas Sharpe, 1896. For further information see Christidis & Boles (2008), Baker et al. (2012), del Hoyo & Collar (2014) and Dickinson & Remsen (2013).
