Introduced Australian stocks of mixed identity subspecifically, involving Passer montanus montanus (Linnaeus, 1758), P. m. saturatus Stejneger, 1885 and P. m. catellatus Kleinschmidt: Keve, Emu 76(1976)152-153 and Schodde & Mason, Directory of Australian Birds Passerines (1999)731.

Introduced from Europe and Asia.
