Genus Paraleia Tonnoir, 1929
- Paraleia Tonnoir, A.L. 1929. Australian Mycetophilidae. Synopsis of the genera. Proceedings of the Linnean Society of New South Wales 54: 584-614 [611].
Type species:
Paraleia fulvescens Tonnoir, 1929 by original designation.
Introduction
Tonnoir described genus Paraleia in the Family Mycetophilidae in 1929. Armbruster (1938) proposed the genus name Paraleia also in family Mycetophilidae. This name is pre-occupied by Paraleia Tonnoir 1929.
Armbruster did not designate a type species or provide a diagnosis. In 1944 a compiler at the Imperial Institute of Entomology designated Paraleia rhymosoides as type species.
Evenhuis (1994) recognised the pre-occupation and renamed the genus Armbrustelia.
Evenhuis et al (2008) noted that the genus group name Paraleia Armbruster is a nomen nudum, being proposed post-1930 without designation of a type species from the 2 included species, but did not mention that the name was preoccupied.
