Family PYRAGRAPHORIDAE Yamaguti, 1963

Introduction

The Pyragraphoridae are characterised as follows: Haptor in form of a fish tail. Clamp skeleton of two different types — one type microcotylid, other type "fire-tong"-shaped. Anchor-bearing terminal lappet absent. Cirrus pouch enclosing seminal vesicle, prostatic reservoir and cirrus. Genital atrium unarmed. Vaginal pore middorsal. Parasites of marine fishes (Yamaguti 1963).

The type genus, Pyragraphorus Sproston, 1946 is represented in Australia by a single species .
