Introduction
The Psolidae are a cosmopolitan family of eight genera, including four from Australian waters. Twenty species are recorded in Australian waters.
Psolids are distinguished from other dendrochirotid holothurian families by the following combination of features: tentacles dendritic, 10–15; body usually with well defined ventral 'sole' and dorsal, macroscopic plates; mouth and anus usually directed dorsally.
