Family PSEUDOJANIRIDAE Wilson, 1986
Introduction
Once considered to warrant their own superfamily, the Pseudojaniridae (Wilson 1986, 1987; Poore & Just 1990) are now placed within the Stenetrioidea. The family was diagnosed in detail by Poore & Just (1990) and again by Serov & Wilson (1999). The diagnosis here distinguishes the family from Stenetriidae.
Diagnosis
Male pleopod 2 peduncle with large posterior extension; appendix masculina elongate and narrow, with posterior groove originating proximally; exopod inserting medially; penes positioned adjacent to medial sternal spine, directed posteriorly, distally pointed.
