Family PROCTONOTIDAE Gray, 1853
- ZEPHYRINIDAE Iredale & O'donoghue, 1923.
Introduction
Proctonotid species have the flattish body encircled by a dense band of smooth or prickly fusiform cerata. The rhinophores have long stalks and lamellate or knobbly upper parts. There may be an inter-rhinophoral ridged crest, raised in some species, flattened in others. The anus opens through a cylindrical papilla towards the rear of the dorsum. Bryozoans are the preferred food.
