Family PLASMOBATIDAE Grandjean, 1961

Introduction

The Plasmobatidae is a small family, with three genera and 19 known species (Schatz et al. 2011). The diversity of the family is highest in the Neotropical Region, but the family also occurs in Africa and Asia (Norton & Behan-Pelletier 2009; Subias 2004, 2011). The Australian fauna comprises a single endemic species described from rainforest leaf litter in Queensland (Hunt 1994), but some species in other countries have been found to be arboreal.
