Family PHALANGODIDAE Simon, 1879
Introduction
The family Phalangodidae was expanded by Roewer (1912, 1923 and later papers) to include a vast array of genera and subfamilies. However, clearly that concept of the family is polyphyletic and numerous groups have been removed to other families by various authors.
The sole Australian phalangodids, Spalicus and Glennhuntia, are undoubtably misplaced in the family (Shear 2001), but a familial assignment is not possible without a review of the relationships of the gonyleptoids of the Old World.
