Family PELOPPIIDAE Balogh, 1943

Introduction

The cosmopolitan family Peloppiidae includes 19 genera and 81 species world-wide (Schatz et al. 2011). Subias (2004, 2011) did not recognise this family, but instead placed its genera in the families Metrioppiidae and Ceratoppiidae (Norton & Behan-Pelletier 2009). The Australian fauna is very poorly known, with only one identified species in each of two genera, and a few records of unidentified species, as reviewed by Colloff & Halliday (1998). Some authors have used the name Metrioppiidae for this family. However Peloppiidae is the correct name, as explained in detail by Colloff & Halliday (1998).
