Introduction
Parasaleniids are distributed throughout the Indo-west Pacific region. Only a single extant genus is known. Two species are recorded from Australian waters.
This family is distinguished within the order Camarodonta by the following set of character states: test elliptical at ambitus; periproct with four (three–five) plates; blade of globiferous pedicellariae without lateral teeth, lantern camarodont-type.
