Extra-limital distribution: U.S.A., Mexico, Honduras, British Honduras, Turneffe Islands, Cuba, Hawaiian Islands. Pantropical in the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans, stray records from Scotland, France, U.S.A.(Louisiana). Bequaert, 1941 also gives NSW as a vague location.
