Introduction
In their revision of the Oedura marmorata complex, Oliver & Doughty (2016) suggest that the description of Oedura fracticolor De Vis, 1884 more closely matches the appearance of O. castelnaui (Thominot, 1889) than that of O. marmorata Gray, 1842, but refrained from taking any nomenclatorial decision without comparative material at hand from the same region where the type of O. fracticolor comes from.
Hoskin et al. (2018) clarify that Oedura fracticolor and O. castelnauei are the same species and therefore the former is the senior synonym. However, as the provisions of art. 23.9.1.1 and art. 23.9.1.2 of the ICZN are fulfilled, the prevailing usage of O. castelnauei is maintained over Oedura fracticolor.
