Family OPOSTEGIDAE
Compiler and date details
1 December 1995 - ABRS, Canberra, Australia [data from Nielsen et al. 1996: 28]
Introduction
This small family was reviewed by Davis (1989). Australia has a relatively rich fauna with possibly 80 species but only 19 of these have been named. Most of these were described by Meyrick (1893, 1915a) and Turner (1923d).
The family occurs widely in Australia and is particularly well represented in southern temperate areas. The Australian fauna includes some of the largest species in the family. Nothing is known of the biology of the Australian species.{}
