Introduction
The family Ophiomyxidae is widespread throughout the Indo-west Pacific region. Twenty-nine genera are known including 88 species.
The family Ophiomyxidae is distinguished from others in the order Ophiurida by the following combination of character states: disc and arms covered by thick, soft skin overlying plates and scales; dorsal arm plates rudimentary and often fragmented.
