Diagnosis

All sizes, all oceans. Trunk fully segmented, lateral processes crowded to very separated, with tubercles (rarely), setae, spines, or glabrous; ocular tubercle at rear of cephalic segment; chelifore scape 1- segmented, chelae fully formed, functional, most with teeth; palps 5-segmented, longer than proboscis; ovigers with strong strigilis, with denticulate spines, terminal claw with teeth; legs all sizes, tarsus from very short to much longer than propodus, propodus usually with large heel spines, some without, claw from very reduced to very long, auxiliaries of all sizes or absent. Cement gland outlet(s) ventral, pores or low truncate cones to a single very large cone (rare).
