Introduction
Wells & Wellington (1985: 36) introduced a species as Notoscincus watersi, however, the name was considered a nomen nudum by Shea and Sadlier (1999), who still recognised the taxonomic distinction of the taxon, but in the absence of a formal diagnosis or description, treated it as innominate. The name was based on material from Alice Springs, listed as 'Holotype AM R84555, 50 km S Alice Springs, NT [24º05'S 133º35'E]'. See Greer (1989: 62).
